Mindfulness Practice: Liberating Yourself from Stress

by lotuspond

The relentless pace of modern life, like a ceaselessly operating machine, sweeps each individual into a whirlwind of busyness, inadvertently turning stress into an unwelcome companion. To escape the clutches of stress, each person needs to find effective methods for themselves. And with this article, I want to share my personal journey of practicing mindfulness to free myself from the shackles of stress.

Step 1: Start the day with positive energy

Every morning when I wake up, before diving into the work routine, I take a short time to “recharge” with positive energy. A few light exercises, a few simple yoga poses, or simply tending to the flower pots in my small garden, listening to the chirping of birds – all these simple things only take 10-15 minutes but help me regain alertness and focus after a long sleep.

Mindfulness meditation is a powerful “weapon” that I choose to “purify” my soul and dispel stress. There are many different forms of meditation such as mindfulness of breath, body observation, loving kindness,… I personally choose to practice chanting the Buddha’s name. Sitting in silence, I silently repeat the name, anchoring my mind to the present moment. Spending 10-20 minutes on this in the morning gives me a clear and refreshed mind for a busy day of work.

Minimizing stress at work: The key to effectiveness

Throughout my working hours, I always maintain mindfulness and high concentration. When I breathe, I am aware of my breath; when I eat, I enjoy the taste of the food with all my senses. I try to do only one thing at a time, minimizing multitasking and distractions. This approach not only helps me improve my work performance but also minimizes errors – the main cause of stress.

Gratitude and positive thinking: “Medicine” for the spirit

Instead of getting caught up in negative thoughts about unfinished tasks, I choose to appreciate what I have achieved. “I’ve done half of this work already!” – that’s a phrase that often rings out in my mind.

Moreover, I always remember the luck I have, such as the enthusiastic support of my colleagues,… Positive thinking doesn’t help me get my work done faster, but it’s like a “medicine” for my spirit, helping me be more creative, sociable, and solve problems more effectively.

Facing stress: Calmness and understanding

When faced with stress or conflict, I practice taking deep, slow breaths. Before rushing to resolve or assign blame, I take time to calm down, usually with six deep breaths (this is just my personal experience). While breathing, I silently chant the Buddha’s name. After a short time, my mind becomes calm, negative emotions are released, and I can approach the problem with a calmer and more understanding attitude.

Cherish happy moments

Happy moments are often fleeting and transient. However, it is these moments that are the great motivation that helps me overcome the difficulties in life. In my free time, I return to chanting the Buddha’s name, helping my mind to return to a state of peace, serenity, and recharge with positive energy.

This is not a formal method at all, not certified or verified, it is just my personal experience. After 5-6 years of regular practice, I myself feel that I have reduced or resolved a lot of the stress in my work, as well as in my daily life.

I hope that by sharing my journey, you can find inspiration to explore mindfulness practices that suit you, helping you overcome life’s challenges more easily and flexibly.
